Earlier in the week i asked one of my friends, who listens to rap, if there were any artists he thought i would be interested in. He told to me to listen to a rapper that goes by the name NF. I decided to listen to some of his songs and eventually listened to all of his albums, which is surprising for me because I'm not a big fan of modern rap. This artist has some of the best rap songs I've heard in awhile, and the reason why is because that he's not afraid to speak his mind and wears his heart on his sleeve. He has songs that cover love, family, and the criticism he receives from random people or other artists. My favorite songs are Therapy Session, Let You Down and Thing Called Love. I love Therapy Session because it's about how he's constantly told his music is too depressing or aggressive and how he replies by saying that he's met fans that his music has helped. His song, Let You Down, is about how you constantly try to make the people around you proud but in the end feeling like you've failed. If you decide to listen to him i recommend Thing Called Love since it's a song a lot of people can connect to the most.

I figured today I would cover my favorite acoustic song, Fiddler on the Green by the band Demons & Wizards, which is kind of a sad song but remains to be very powerful. The song is based on a true story that the vocalist, Hansi Kursch, witnessed. There was a street not too far from where he lived, where he witnessed a little boy get hit by a car and sadly lost his life. About a week later the same thing happened to a little girl around the same age as the boy.
The people that lived around that area created a story that the Fiddler on the Green, which is Germany's version of the Grim Reaper, felt like he had made a mistake by taking the boy at such a young age so he promised to make him his own paradise. The Fiddler decided to give the boy a wife and took the little girl as well, so they could grow up in the paradise he created for them. If you decide to listen to the song then I must warn you that around the three and a half minute mark the music gets louder since the guitars and drum kick in. Also the last two minutes of the song is just an instrumental section. On January 15, 2018 Dolores O'Riordan, the singer of the rock band The Cranberries, passed away. Many musicians mourned the loss and paid their respects. Tommy Vext, vocalist of the band Bad Wolves, revealed that his band was working on a cover of Dolores' most iconic song, Zombie. The song was originally written about the IRA bombing in Warrington, Cheshire, England in 1993. Tommy rewrote some of the lyrics, with her blessing, to portray events that happen in modern society. Tommy also revealed that Dolores was supposed to make a guest appearance on their cover of the song on the same day she passed away. His band decided to finish recording the song and release their version in honor of her. I highly suggest listening to the original version if you've never heard it before, and Bad Wolves' version of the song.
For my first blog post I have decided to write about recent events in music, and I figured I would cover the controversial halftime show Justin Timberlake performed at for Super Bowl LII. I've never been a big fan of his music but have always respected him as a musician. When I heard he was performing a Prince song I decided to watch the show. I thought the stage show was entertaining but Justin's actual performance was kind of disappointing. Not trying to be disrespectful to a good musician but it seemed like he wasn't really singing, just dancing to the music as it played through speakers. In my opinion they could've had a better performance for the game this year like Roger Waters, who performed in the band Pink Floyd, or a more mainstream artist such as the rapper logic who puts on a good stage show.
